‘‘mysterious objects that seem to belong to another time; a vessel, a shrine or a wheel”
Keith Cameron works in metal-mainly on a grand scale but also with more intimate results. His sculptural pieces are created from the detritus of a mechanical farm life: discarded steel, obsolete machinery, collected rusted useless junk. Along with those he manufactures from fresh metal; intricate and thought provoking sculptures often intersect these two paradigms.
In exploring the pictorial elements of line, shape and colour; in dealing with the metallic arts of cutting, joining, patination and decoration, keith creates a body of work where each piece carries with it a memory of the thing from which it is formed. The inherent beauty of the fragment is explored, juxtaposed; the work evolves with little regard for its original intended use.
