The environment that surrounds my home is wild and always manages to supply a range of native and exotic flowers that bloom beautifully over spring and summer. They are gorgeous and readily available material that I always find as stimulating subject matter so naturally they have, in part, informed this body of work.
Painting and drawing the human figure has always been part of my art practice. In this series of paintings that I have on exhibition here, figures and flowers are presented on their own and in combination. I have also presented the figures and flowers in both literal and in stylised form.
Another aspect of the environment that surrounds my studio and informs my art is an abundance of wildlife, both native and feral. In particular the family of hares who become the co-subject of ‘The hare’s advice’.
